The reason why I will not undergo hip revision/trial for 2nd SCS until 'tis COLD weather .....

I live in Sweet Home Alabama. The summers are very humid + hot= quite miserable. "yes" we do have AC down here in the southern part of the states but it is still not a good time to undergo elective surgery if that makes sense. LOL. Plus I want to ride my horse, Hershey this summer for as long as I can. The orthopedic surgeon will "not" allow the SCS trial (perm stim) until 6 months out from the hip surgery due to the risk of a possible infection. Thus I will continue as I am doing now. Taking my Percocet TID as needed for pain and my Zanaflex for my muscle spasms TID but most times I take these tabX3 @ bedtime. Unless I am having a lot of muscle spasms during the day. They do make me sleepy. I will be "out of my saddle" for at least 6 weeks post op following the hip revision (replacement of the plastic shell/liner) The stem of the hip prosthesis that goes down the shaft of my femur/thigh bone is fine NO need to replace that nor the metal component in the acetabulum (ball & socket) of my hip joint. I am so glad that I do have my SCS as it feels like a massage to my muscles and is able to over ride the pain of my lower back. I use the 'sleep' program @ bedtime. Anyhow that is what is going on with me at this time in my life. I want to thank all of you who have sent positive thoughts and prayer down my way. I love you all and appreciated you so very much! Love, support, love & prayers for all my forum friends here on the RAP forum....'bamaVickie
